Information

Dino Grip Landing Covers are a prefabricated FRP/GRP product, which give full anti-slip cover to the whole stair landing, with a contrasting colored nosing. 

They offer extreme slip resistance and can also be installed onto a variety of stair substrates including traditional steel checker plate, which are notoriously slippery when wet.

Our Anti Slip Landing Covers are manufactured from Fiberglass to provide an extremely tough and durable product.  These types of products have been used in the most testing environments.  

Normally installed along with Stair Treads and Flat Sheet, Dino Grip Landing Covers are the ultimate choice for dealing with potential slip hazards to landing areas. Once installed, stair safety is instantly improved.

Sizes

Dino Grip Landing Covers are available in a maximum 8' wide x 4' deep with a 2" yellow nosing incorporated into the tread and 2" down the riser.

Fixings

Stainless Steel Screws

Dino Grip recommends standard flanged stainless steel screws which therefore do not rust or stain and sit flush to the panel. Please see our Fitting and Adhesives page for more information.

Color Headed Screws

Dino Grip supplies color headed flanged screws that are available in black to match the landing cover. 

The advantage of using these particular screws is that they have a T-Star head that makes for easier installation as the heads won't round off.

For metal surfaces, we recommend rivet fixings.

Anti Skid

Dino Grip Landing Covers are a pre-formed fiberglass product that has an anti-skid gritted top to provide a superb skid-resistant, hard wearing surface. Dino Grip Anti Skid products may assist in meeting ADA requirements.

Do it Yourself Installation

The versatility of our Dino Grip Landing Covers allows them to be applied to almost any surface such as concrete, steel or wood. It is supplied as a finished product means that it can be walked on immediately after installation, keeping disruption to a minimum.

Dino Grip Landing Covers provide an instant aesthetically pleasing non-slip finish to any step or staircase surface landing.

Safety

When installing Dino Grip Landing Covers we would recommend that PPE (personal protective equipment) is worn.

Cutting the Landing Covers

If you need to cut the Landing Covers to size during your installation, we would recommend that a suitable dust mask with protective safety goggles and gloves are worn.  The Landing Covers should be cut externally or in well ventilated areas. if using a circular saw or angle grinder, use a standard carbon or diamond blade when cutting them to size.

Dust residue can be disposed of using normal waste disposal methods. No special permissions or licenses are required.

Installation of Landing Covers

During the installation of the Landing Covers we would recommend that safety gloves and glasses are worn as the product has a textured anti-slip finish and while screwing the landing cover into place it is recommended that you wear safety glasses or goggles.

Preparation

Dino Grip recommend that the surface is firstly swept and cleaned ensuring that the surface is suitable to receive the Landing Covers. 

Installation

Wooden Surfaces

To lay the Landing Covers upon the surface and then use a 7/32" (6 mm) masonry drill bit to drill the top of the gritted surface in the desired fixing locations.  We would recommend that there are 20 rivet / screw fasteners per landing cover. 

Once the pilot holes have been drilled to then screw into position using the flanged stainless steel screws.

Additional adhesive can be used (if required) to add extra grip to the underneath the landing cover.

Metal Surfaces

To lay the landing cover upon the surface and then use a 7/32" (6 mm) masonry drill bit to drill the top of the gritted surface only in the desired fixing locations.  We would recommend that there are 20 screws or rivets per landing.  Change the drill bit to a 13/64" (5 mm) metal drill bit.  Use drilling compound, and then proceed to drill the metal surface under the landing cover – the landing cover can be kept into position during this process as you have already pre-drilled the landing cover. 

Place rivet into hole and use a rivet gun to fix into position.  Please ensure that all rivets have been compressed. 

Additional adhesive can be used (if required) to add extra grip to the underneath of the landing cover.

Concrete Surfaces

To lay the landing cover upon the surface and then use a 7/32" (6 mm) masonry drill bit to drill the top of the gritted surface and into the underlying concrete sub-base only in the desired fixing locations.  We would recommend 20 screws per landing cover.  Remove the landing cover and re-drill the concrete fixing points with an 5/16" (8 mm) masonry drill bit. 

Introduce plastic anchors into the holes in the concrete surface and place the Landing Covers into place.

Then screw into position using the flanged stainless steel screws.

Additional adhesive can be used (if required) to add extra grip to the underneath of the landing cover.

Additional Adhesive

While mechanical fixings are all that is required to secure the landing cover, wherever possible, the application of an appropriate high strength gap filling adhesive will provide the following benefits:

A secondary fixing in the event that the fasteners should fail.

A barrier against the "Drumming" noise that is created when fitting the landing cover over the existing substrate.

 

Apply a 1/4" (6 mm) bead of high strength gap-filling adhesive around the periphery of the landing cover and in horizontal stripes at approximately 7.9" centers. Immediately press the landing cover firmly to the substrate to ensure adequate transfer of adhesive. A firm bond will be achieved in about one hour under normal conditions. Secure with the screws or rivets and allow the adhesive sealant to cure before allowing excessive traffic to use the areas.

CLEANING GUIDE AND TIPS

While Landing Covers are extremely resilient to dirt and contaminations it will require minimal maintenance.

Dry dirt and debris can easily be removed using a stiff brush and should be carried out on a regular basis.

If the Landing Covers have been subjected to spillages or the dirt has become embedded, detergents can be used. It is always advisable to test any cleaning product on the stair treads on an inconspicuous area before starting the cleaning procedure.

Using the detergent, warm water and a stiff bristle brush; scrub the affected areas until clean. The excess water can be removed using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner or power washer.

Where circumstances allow, the Landing Covers can be power washed without causing harm. Care should be taken when the Landing Covers has been glued down and / or edge sealed as very high pressure power washing or repeated power washing could cause damage to sealants and adhesives.

GENERAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

The security of the mechanical anchors / adhesives should be checked on a regular basis. Circumstances will vary, based upon the volume of foot traffic etc. but, as a guide, monthly inspections would be advisable in high traffic areas.
